Habitat
Cultivated areas and in coastal regions with herbaceous vegetation.
Food plant
The larva is oligophagous on Poaceae (Saccharum officinarum (Sugarcane), Tripidium bengalense, Zea mays (Maize). The larva bores into the stems, and pupation takes place in a cocoon in the soil.
