Appearance
The moth rests with all four wings on display, which show a colorful rainbow-like luster in certain lighting conditions. Both forewings and hindwings have a characteristic pattern formed by brownish, wavy transverse lines.
Habitat
Forest edges, roadsides, meadows, and generally habitats of the larval host plants.
Food plant
The larva is polyphagous and feeds on a variety of plants, i.e. Urticaceae (Urtica dioica, Parietaria officinalis), Cannabaceae (Humulus lupulus), Ulmaceae (Ulmus), Amaranthaceae (Atriplex, Chenopodium), etc.
