Coastal dunes, forest edges, glades, and sandy terrain.
Food plant
The larva is polyphagous and feeds on the leaves of a variety of plants i.e. Caryophyllaceae (Stellaria media), Leguminosae (Cytisus scoparius, Trifolium), Violaceae (Viola), Urticaceae (Urtica), Rosaceae (Crataegus, Prunus spinosa), Salicaceae (Salix), Polygonaceae (Rumex), Poaceae, etc.
