Food plant

The larva is oligophagous on Rosaceae (Malus domestica, Malus sylvestris, Pyrus communis, Crataegus). After emerging from hibernation in the spring, the larvae create small full-depth mines in the leaves, which can sometimes merge into a large orange-brown blotch. Shortly afterward, they begin to live freely and create characteristic white silky “webs" on the leaves and shoots.
