Appearance

The male is slightly smaller than the female. The species has a white head, and a furry white thorax marked with six black spots. Forewings are whitish, long, and narrow, with numerous black spots arranged in rows along the veins. Hindwings are generally translucent with small black spots.

Habitat

Forests, orchards, and gardens.

Food plant

Larvae are xylophagous and feed on the wood of various fruit trees, deciduous trees, and shrubs feeding internally for up to three years in the stems and branches of Prunus, Pyrus, Punica, Quercus, Salix, Acer, Olea, Malus, Ceratonia, Citrus, Vitis, Tamarix, Platanus, etc.
