The moth can be found in sunny deciduous forests, shrubland, gardens, and parks.

Food plant

The larva is polyphagous and feeds on the inflorescences of a variety of plants, mainly Umbelliferae i.e. Pimpinella, Ferula communis, Foeniculum vulgare, Daucus carota, but also on Compositae (Achillea, Centaurea, Senecio, Solidago), Leguminosae (Ononis spinosa), Labiatae (Origanum vulgare), Convolvulaceae (Convolvulus arvensis), etc.
