Habitat
Parks, forest edges, stream banks, and river banks.
Food plant
The larva feeds mostly on Quercus species (Fagaceae), but also on Salicaceae (Salix, Populus), Rosaceae (Malus, Prunus), Cupressaceae (Juniperus communis).
The larva bores into the bark of tree cankers, at the interface of dead and living tissue.
