The larva is polyphagous on preferably woody plants, in particular Rosaceae (Crataegus, Potentilla, Prunus spinosa, Prunus domestica, Pyrus communis, Rosa, Sanguisorba minor), as well as on Berberidaceae (Berberis), Ulmaceae (Ulmus), etc and feeds on the leaves.
