Appearance
Adult Silkworm moths have hairy bodies. Females are about 2-3 times bulkier than males but are similarly colored. They are typically blond to light brown-colored, with thin dark bands running across the body. The wings are cream-colored and have dark veins extending out to the margins. Adult Bombycidae have reduced mouthparts and do not feed.
Habitat
The caterpillar of Bombyx mori is the most common silkworm. It contributes worldwide by 95% to the production of natural silk. It is a domesticated insect; it is bred by humans.
