The larva is monophagous on Compositae (Centaurea sp.). The 2 depicted species (1-4 and 5) were observed on plants of Centaurea calcitrapa and Picnomon acarna, respectively.
The larvae of the summer generation inhabit the peduncle just below the flower head, where they feed on the developing fruitlets. By late July, they pupate within their retreat. The next generation overwinters as small larvae in the upper parts of the plant. In spring, they resume feeding as borers in the center of the rosette.
